Hello everyone. Today I will teach you what you should do when you have just created your website. What I will show you is optional but truly helps for SEO and indexation on Google. This will only be of use for Google and for no other search engines.

Firstly we will learn how to prove to Google that you are the owner of your website. To do this you need to create a Google account. When being logged in you can click on the small square on the right up hand corner where you can choose what application you want to use. You should then click on Search Console. When being on the page you just need to click on “Add a property” and enter your URL. Then, just follow the steps. They will give you lots of options. If you have access to your code, I recommend using the meta tag method. They will give you a code that you need to inject into your code between the <head> tags. Otherwise choose another option but you generally always have access to these <head> tags, even on platforms. I have checked and I am sure that at least Wix and WordPress give you this opportunity. After the code is added, Google will finally recognize you as the owner of the website!

This was a short article on a quite technical thing. I hope you understood everything and if you have any questions, leave a comment. I will answer you! If you found your way through this developer tool, like the post! 😉 I will write future posts on how to use the Google Search Console because it is a very complete tool but hard to master.

What Are Search Engine Spiders And How Do They Index Websites?

Hey guys! As promised, here is a post about search engine spiders and how they index your website. This is a very complex but important part of search engines. Without these spiders, search engines would not be able to work like you know them today.

Search engine spiders, also called robots or crawlers are used by search engines to index all the websites on the internet. They basically go through your website and check all the texts, images, hyperlinks, meta tags, etc… This allows the search engine to know what each website talks about and then display it wisely in the search results when you search for something. If you can not find what your are searching for, it is all their fault!

Search Engine Spider

They create a sort of profile for your website from all the collected information. There are some exceptional cases though… Have you ever seen an empty webpage displayed in the first page of search results? Well this is due to the fact that you can use the robot meta tag to block these spiders from indexing your entire website or just a part of your website. You just need to put what pages of your website you don’t want to be indexed in the content of your robot meta tag. This is why these spiders are useful for search engines but to a certain extent. The good news is that there are also people who are working on this. This is why it is very rare to find an empty website in the first results.

These search engine spiders check all the websites regularly to see if there has been any change so that they can update the website’s “profile” and its place in search results. Generally, the more you are active on a website the better it is graded in SEO. This is why blogs are very much recommended for SEO. If you feel like your website has not been indexed, you can send your website to a search engine to be checked. This will be the object of a future post.

Finally search engine robots can also be used to control websites. If the content is not okay or legal, your website can be taken off the web. This is a way of assuring the users that the content displayed is always checked.

I hope you learnt something in this post. Don’t hesitate to like the post and leave a comment if you have any questions!

What Are Meta Tags In Html?

Here is a quick overview of the power of meta tags and what they are.

Hello everyone! Today we will discuss about an abstract part of Html! It can be hard to understand at the beginning but you will quickly get the feel of it and discover the power of meta tags!

Meta tags are tags from the HTML language and go into the <head></head> tags. They are very interesting because they have nothing to do with what appears on your website. It is more about giving information about your website to search engines than anything else. You can do lots of different things with them and they are all optional!

Meta tags are mainly used for SEO but you can also use them to give other types of information to search engines. Today we generally use meta tags to give a description about your website when your link appears on the search results and to give keywords about your website to search engines. Although it is mainly used for SEO, there are a lot of different meta tags and we will not go into detail about all of them in this post. I will only give you an overview of the most important ones. I might talk about more abstract tags in future posts.

Some of the most important meta tags:

  • <meta name=”description” content=”text“>  => This is the description that will appear under your link in the search results.
  • <meta name=”keywords” content=”words“>  => These are the keywords that represent your website. Separate them with a coma and do not put more than 10 (it could be sanctioned by search engines).
  • <title>text</title>  => This is the clickable text right above your link in search results.
  • <meta name=”language” content=”language“>  => This tag tells the search engines what language your website is in. You would replace the “language” in content by the language of your website.
  • <meta name=”web_author” content=”text“>  => This tag is used to tell the name of the company that created your website.
  • <meta name=”robots” content=”selection“>  => This tag tells search engines how many pages of your website you want their spiders to index. I will go into more detail about search engine spiders in a future post. Stay tuned!

These are some of the most used meta tags. There are other very relevant ones but more complicated. I just wanted to give you an overview but I will post future articles about these more abstract meta tags! Don’t hesitate to follow the blog if you learnt something in this post!

How much does creating a website cost?

Hey everyone! I have come across this question a few times on forums already.
I will give you a quick overview of the answer so that you can make the best choices when it comes to creating your own website or contracting an agency for it.
There are two options:

  • Using a platform to create the website yourself with the risk of not being happy about the result
  • Contracting an agency to create your website and be sure that it will be a very professional website

If you are a bit techy and want to have  complete control on your website, I strongly advise you to take the first option. You can use platforms like Wix.com, WordPress, Squarespace, Google Sites… You will need some time to understand how everything works and you might have some difficulties at the beginning. But this should not discourage you! You can do it! If you need any information or help, you can always ask me!

However if you have no idea about how the web works and how a website works, it will be a lot more difficult… In this case, I would consider contracting an agency to create your website. NOW.
Let’s get to the crucial question!
How much will it cost me?

This depends on what you want and on the agency you contract. There is no fixed price, each agency is free to choose a price. This is why I would ask for estimations to different agencies and then choose. You need to know that a website will generally cost between 100 and 5 000 dollars. But this can vary.

The more complex your website is, the more it will cost. The price will increase depending on if you want a blog, an e-commerce page, a pop-up, a social media integration….The more you add and the more you customize the more it costs. The price can also increase depending on whether you want a secure website, a mobile responsive website, if you want the content and the images to be created…. As you can see there are lots of factors that influence on the price.

Depending on the country, the price can also vary. For example, web agencies in India will generally cost a lot less than others as Indian prices are lower. You can also choose to ask for estimations on freelancing platforms. You will generally get the lower rates there.

I hope this post was useful! If you need any other information, feel free to ask and if you found this post useful, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog!

Top 5 Website Creation Platforms

Hey  developers! Today we will create a list of the Top 5 website creation platforms. You need to know that this list can vary depending on the developer and on what he or she likes. However I tried to be as much objective as I can and tried to choose easy to use platforms but very powerful for beginners.

1. WordPress

This is I would say the most powerful website creation platform that a beginner can use. It is effectively a bit hard to use at the beginning but when you got the feel of it, it is the best one. There is no obligated need to know how to code but Html and CSS are not a must but a plus. It is a very professional platform which allows anyone to create and control their websites. This platform is my personal favorite.

2. Wix:

This is the best platform for total beginners. I would say the best thing to do is to start on Wix and then jump onto WordPress. Wix allows people who know nothing about website development to create a beautiful and responsive website or blog.

3. Squarespace:

This platform is very nice to use when it comes to design and layouts. It gives a lot of design choices for the websites and allows developers to create beautiful online shops.

4. Weebly:

This platform is also very good for websites or blogs. It gives a lot of opportunities to developers and also gives a nice control panel on which we can have access to all informations about visitors and statistics.

5. Jimdo:

This platform is mostly used by bloggers. It gives some design and layout choices but nothing very special. However it is still a very nice platform to work on when being a beginner.

If you think I forgot a platform in this Top 5 list, feel free to leave a comment. I will talk about these platforms individually and in more detail in future posts.

What is WordPress?

Hello everyone. In this post I will talk about the WordPress platform. Firstly you might want to know that I am using WordPress for this blog.

WordPress is a CMS platform (Content Management System). This platform has been created in order to give the opportunity to non-developers to create websites and blogs. It is a very easy to use platform just like lots of other platforms which I will talk about in the future.

However, if you have a bit of web development skills, I strongly recommend using WordPress as it might be a bit harder to use than other CMS but it gives us an awful lot of possibilities in terms of layout or any other things.

Another very good thing about WordPress is that it gives the website creators the possibility to follow in live everything that goes on on our website. This means that we can have access to the number of visitors per day, their origins, the search engines used…. This is very important for SEO so that we know who we are talking to when writing our blog posts or updating our website.

Lastly, you can easily monetize your blogs or websites on WordPress just by paying a small amount of money per month. In my opinion, WordPress is the most professional website creation platform.

If you would like future blog posts to learn how to use WordPress or get more information about it, follow the blog and give us a like ;).

If you have another favorite website creation platform, feel free to tell it in the comments and explain why!

What are the different text types with Html?

Hello everyone! Today we will start with the very basics of Html! You will learn how to create text items on your beautiful webpages.

Firstly, you need to know that the main text items on HTML are paragraphs and titles. As HTML is very intuitive, the tags have a lot in common with the real words.

For normal text paragraphs on your webpage, you should use the <p> tag. It is very easy to use. You open it like this: <p> and close it like this </p>. This tag is used for any text items that are not important lines of your webpage or titles.

Example: <p>This is a paragraph</p>.

For titles or important parts of your webpage, you should use the <h> tag. This tag goes from <h1> up to <h6>. <h1> is the biggest title and <h6> the smallest. You do not need to assign a size to one of these tags as they already come with their own size. If you want to keep the same size but want your text to be an <h1> or <h2> for example, you can do it. This can be useful if you want to write everything in the same size but want your website to be SEO friendly. Effectively, <h1> and <h2> are the first tags being read by search engines. This is why you want to put your important keywords and titles in these tags.

Example: <h1>This is the most important title</h1>.

That is pretty much it about text items in Html! As you can see it is very easy to make text appear on your webpage. You just need to know the tag names and be careful in closing every tag you opened with a backslash before the tag name.

I will talk about more complex Html tags in upcoming posts. If you want to be updated, follow the blog!
